Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has written to PM Modi, ANI reports, after the Supreme Court stayed the centre’s notification allowing the bull-taming Jallikattu festival, earlier on Tuesday.

The Supreme court said they wanted to allow cultural practices but not when illegal. The apex court also said the notification issued by the government was not in sync with earlier orders.

Bullock-cart racing, which was allowed by the centre through the 7 January notification, would also be stayed, say media reports.
