Pakistan's air force chief Marshal Sohail Aman on Thursday warned India against escalating the tension on the Line of Control in Kashmir into full-scale war, saying that its "battle hardened" military is capable of responding to any aggression.

Aman also said that Pakistan is not worried at all about any threat from India. He said that Pakistan does not want war but cannot ignore this kind of pressure.

We are well capable of responding in the face of any aggression.

Aman said that if Indian forces escalate the crisis, Pakistani troops "know full well how to deal with them."

The warning came as tensions continue to soar between Islamabad and New Delhi after an Indian counter-offensive on Wednesday killed nine civilians (an AP report claims 12) and three soldiers in Pakistan.

The shelling from India came a day after an Indian soldier’s body was mutilated and two others were killed and the Indian Army vowed “heavy retribution”.

"We are not worried about India at all," he said, speaking at the 9th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar in Karachi.

India should show restraint and instead solve the issue of Kashmir as that would be better for them.

Also on Thursday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held a high-level security meeting to review the Kashmir situation.

India Will Not Forget for Generations If Pak Launches Surgical Strikes: Gen Sharif

Also upping the ante, Pakistan’s army chief General Raheel Sharif ‘warned’ India that its military is capable of responding to any aggression.

Sharif is scheduled retirement on 29 November:

If Pakistan were to launch surgical strikes, India would not be able to forget it for generations to come.

He also dismissed India's assertion that it had carried out surgical strikes in Pakistan. He said that Pakistan army was capable of teaching Indian forces a lesson.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan will not tolerate "deliberate targeting" of civilians particularly children and women, ambulances and civilian transport.

Pakistan has exercised maximum restraint despite continuing ceasefire violations from Indian security forces along LoC. We will not tolerate the deliberate attack on innocent civilians.
