Taking a cue from the bypolls in Gorakhpur and Phulpur in Uttar Pradesh, an alliance between the Congress, the BSP, the SP and the RLD has been formed to go head to head against the BJP in the upcoming bypolls in Kairana Lok Sabha seat and Noorpur Assembly seat, which are slated to be held on 28 May.
The Congress, the BSP and the SP in Kairana have backed RLD's candidate Tabassum Hassan. On the other side is the BJP’s Mriganka Singh, the daughter of late Hukum Singh, whose death necessitated the bypoll.
RLD’s vice president Jayant Chaudhary attacked PM Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath in a public rally held on 24 May in UP's Shamli, part of Kairana constituency. Chief Minister of UP Yogi Adityanath promised to solve the problems that plague the area, during his rally in Shamli on the same day.
The results of the bypoll are due on 31 May.
