Recently a video surfaced showing women of Bari town in Rajasthan’s Dholpur district beating up a government officer over acute shortage of water supply.

The area reportedly has been facing shortage of water for a few months now. The issue was brought to the notice of concerned authorities, who despite promising to resolve the issue within a few days’ time, failed to do so.

Following arguments with an officer of the water supply department, female residents beat him up with slippers. They claimed that the water pumps have run dry.

A protesting villager told ANI:

There is no water supply here in Bari village. The hand pumps are faulty. Those who have private water supply do not stay here. No one takes responsibility so we needed to protest. No action has been taken so far. The agitation will grow to the extent that the authorities will not be able to handle it.
