With Lok Sabha elections right round the corner, the long-standing issue of pushing the Women's Reservation Bill through Parliament is back among the headlines.

Two key regional parties announced this week that they will offer better representation to women in politics. BJP announced that it will give one-third of its tickets to women candidates , while TMC said that it will field nearly 40 percent women in the upcoming elections.

This has raised a pertinent question: Will political parties, who have for long promised to push long-pending Women’s Reservation Bill, actually walk the talk?
