Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi began his three-day Yuva Rojgar Khedut Adhikaar Navsarjan Yatra from Ahmedabad on 9 October 2017. This is the second phase of the Congress VP’s proposed four-phase Gujarat tour to cover all regions of the state prior to the assembly elections scheduled later this year.

During his interaction with businessmen and traders in Vadodara on 9 October. the Congress scion trained his guns on the Modi government over issues like GST, note ban and employment. Here are highlights of his address:

“Any economic reform has to be first tested. It needs feedback from the people. This is the government’s work,” Rahul Gandhi said.

We told the government to take GST slowly to the people by testing it, but Jaitley ji was not in the mood. GST is one tax, it is not five taxes. This is a flawed GST, it is not really GST

Lashing out at the government over the unemployment rates in the country, the Congress VP said: “In India, 30,000 youth come to job market every 24 hours, but government is able to give employment to 450, Chinese government gives it to 50,000 daily. Excuses won’t work when it comes to jobs”.

If the government does not employ 30,000-40,000 people daily in the next five to ten years then no one will be able to control the anger that will spread
