Outgoing US President Barack Obama surprised Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday, by awarding him the nation’s highest civilian honour, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
During the event, Obama praised Biden, calling him the best vice president America has ever had.
“This honour is not only well beyond what I deserve but it is a reflection of the extent and generosity of your spirit,” Biden said after he received the medal. “I don't deserve this, but I know it came from the president's heart,” he said.
