1. Complete Probe on Verma, Asthana in 2 Weeks: SC Tells CVC

The Supreme Court on Friday, 26 October, ordered that the inquiry by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) into Alok Verma and Rakesh Asthana needs to be completed in two weeks. The inquiry will be supervised by former Supreme Court Judge AK Patnaik. The next hearing in the case will be held on 12 November, after the SC reopens after Diwali.

Meanwhile, Congress President Rahul Gandhi was detained by cops during the protest march to CBI HQ on Friday, 26 October. He was taken to the Lodhi Colony police station, accompanied by other Congress leaders.

The Congress staged a protest march from Dyal Singh College to CBI headquarters against CBI Director Alok Verma's ouster. The opposition alleged Verma was sent on a forced leave to cover up the alleged Rafale scam.

2. ED Freezes Amnesty International India’s Bank Accounts

A day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at the office of Amnesty International India, the bank accounts of the human rights watchdog have been frozen.

In a statement released on Friday 26 October morning, Amnesty International India said their operations have always conformed to national regulations. “The Enforcement Directorate alleges that the transactions between Amnesty International Ltd and Amnesty International India Pvt Ltd are not legal. This is untrue. The money has been received in total compliance with the Companies Act and other laws,” read the statement.

3. How Good is Chris Gayle at Hindi?

While the West Indies cricket team is busy playing the Indian team in India, one of their biggest stars Chris Gayle was seen playing poker organised by adda52.com in Mumbai on Wednesday, 24 October.

We interacted with Chris Gayle but the interview we did had a catch this time. We asked him multiple questions but all of them were in Hindi. And we did not translate the questions to him until he gave us answers. The questions being very basic like ‘how are you?’ in Hindi, ‘’Tum kaise ho’. And he replied saying, “My name is Chris Gayle!”

4. Be Penny Wise and Give ‘Baazaar’ a Miss

If you think Baazaar is going to be anyway close to Martin Scorsese’s Wolf of Wall Street, I must warn you to not have high expectations with this one. Directed by Gauravv K Chawla, it has Saif Ali Khan alright and some genuinely engaging moments where the adrenaline rush of the stock markets makes us sit up and take notice, but mostly, you would be just trying to stifle a chuckle at how bizarre the “bazaar” proceedings are.

Saif is Shakun Kothari, a Gujrati businessman who believes all is fair as long as one makes money. At his wife’s charity function he utters lines like “log kehte hain paisa bhagwaan nahi, main kehta hoon bhagwaan se kam bhi nahi”! While the menacing intensity and ‘greed in the eyes’ look suits Khan well there is actually very little that he has to work with.
