Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, 21 February, inaugurated the two-day Uttar Pradesh Investors’ Summit 2018 in Lucknow, along with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The Prime Minister visited an exhibition at the UP Investors' Summit.
The summit was attended by at least 5,000 people, including industry heads from India and abroad, Union Ministers, chief ministers, policy makers, and academicians.
President Ram Nath Kovind will attend the valedictory function on Thursday, 22 February.
Earlier in the day, Modi tweeted that he would take part in the UP Investors’ Summit, which would showcase the rich potential of Uttar Pradesh to attract top-quality investment.
The investors' summit has been organised to further the cause of economic development in the state and attract investments.
The PM claimed that during his visit to Maharashtra, he got to know that the Maharashtra government had kept a target of becoming a trillion dollar economy and that he wanted UP to compete with Maharashtra for the same.

He lauded the ‘One District, One Product’ policy of the Yogi Adityanath government. It was “a game changer,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister announced that one of the two defence industrial corridors to be built would be built in Uttar Pradesh, which would create 2.5 lakh jobs.
Keeping Bundelkhand’s development in mind, we have decided that defence industrial corridor in UP will be built from Agra, Aligarh, Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi and Chitrakoot as a belt.
