Police used water cannons to disperse workers of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) who were protesting in Siliguri, West Bengal, against CAA, NRC and were demanding jobs, reported ANI on Wednesday, 12 February.

A resolution urging the Centre to repeal the Citizenship (Amendment) Act was passed in the Puducherry Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.

Three BJP MLAs had walked out of the state Assembly after the government introduced the resolution in the House. Meanwhile, the MLAs of AIADMK and All India NR Congress boycotted the proceedings of the House, reported ANI.

A special Assembly session had been called for the resolution.

Cong to Start 2nd Phase of Anti-Caa March From Thursday

Opposition Congress today announced it would start its second phase of 'Padyatra' (march) against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act across the north bank of Brahmaputra from Thursday.

The 'padyatra' will begin from Behali in Sonitpur and conclude in Nalbari on 20 February.

Court Grants Bail to 1 Arrested for 15 Dec Anti-Caa Protests Near Jamia Millia Islamia

A Delhi court has granted bail to one person who was arrested in connection with protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act near Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi on 15 December last year.

Additional Sessions Judge Gulshan Kumar granted the relief to Mohd Haneef on furnishing a bail bond of Rs 20,000, reported PTI.

During the hearing, police opposed the bail plea and said allegations against Haneef were serious in nature, and the investigation was at its initial stage.

Chandrashekhar Azad Files Moves SC to Intervene Plea Seeking Removal of Shaheen Bagh Protesters

Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad and former CIC Wajahat Habibullah have filed an application in the Supreme Court of India to intervene in the petition filed before the court asking for the removal of the protesters at Shaheen Bagh in Delhi.

In their application, Azad, Habibullah and Bahadur Abbas Naqvi have argued that the petition is “collusive and motivated” and that it is intended to “enable the administration [to] use the orders of this Honorable Court to justify police force and excesses on women who are protesting peacefully in Shaheen Bagh.”
