Govt Schools in Delhi Have Lowest Pass Percentage: CBSE

Government schools in Delhi have the lowest pass percentage among all categories of schools affiliated to the CBSE, a report said, even as Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia lauded the state-run institutes for an improved performance in the board's Class 10 exam from that in pre-boards.

The overall pass percentage was 86.70, it said.

Delhi recorded a pass percentage of 78.62 with girls stealing a march over boys. The pass percentage of girls is 79.15 as opposed to boys who have a pass percentage of 78.12.

Government schools had the lowest pass percentage at 69.32. Private schools in the Delhi region had a pass percentage of 89.45 while government-aided institutions had a pass percentage of 69.96.

Three Students Commit Suicide in Delhi

Upset over not scoring good marks in the Class 10 CBSE board exam, three students allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves today in separate areas of Delhi, reported The Indian Express.

The police identified the three students as a 15-year-old girl from Ryan International school in Vasant Kunj, a 15-year-old boy from MR Vivekananda Model School in Dwarka and a 16-year-old girl.

The 15-year-old student of Ryan International School, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in southwest Delhi’s Vasant Kunj. The 15-year-old boy too hanged himself, while the third student had allegedly slashed her wrists and hanged herself at her residence in Dabri.

JNV Schools Record Highest Pass Percentage

Among all the categories of schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) schools recorded the best pass percentage in the Class 10 board exams, while government schools registered the lowest pass percentage.

According to CBSE officials, Kendriya Vidyalaya schools recorded a pass percentage of 95.96, followed by private schools, which registered a pass percentage of 89.49.

The schools under the Central Tibetan Schools Administration (CTSA) recorded a pass percentage of 86.43, while the pass percentage in government-aided schools was 73.46.

The government schools recorded a pass percentage of 63.97, the lowest among all the categories.

HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar Congratulates Students

After the Class 10 results were declared, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar congratulated the students for their performance and encouraged the students who have got compartment.

“Congratulations to those who've succeeded. Class 10 CBSE board exam was conducted after 10 years. This is basically preparation for class 12 board. Those students who have got compartment should prepare again and I am sure they will do well,” the minister said.
