Ayodhya Hearing Deferred Again: New SC Bench to Hear Case on 29 January

Hearing on the Ayodhya dispute has been deferred again by the Supreme Court. This time because Justice UU Lalit recused himself from the five-judge Constitution Bench after it was brought up in court that Justice Lalit had appeared for former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh in one of the matters related to the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi dispute. A new bench will hear the case on 29 January.

NCW Notice to Rahul for ‘Misogynistic’ Remarks Against Sitharaman

The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Thursday, 10 January, issued a notice to Congress President Rahul Gandhi over his comment that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “ran away and asked a mahila (woman) to defend him.”

The Congress president, during a public rally, spoke about the prime minister not attending the Rafale deal debate in Parliament, and sending Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to “defend” him.
