1. IAF Jet Shoots Down Pakistani Drone in Bikaner: Report

Amid continuing tensions between India and Pakistan, a Pakistani drone was shot down by a Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet around 11:30 am at the Bikaner Nal sector area of the International Border, reported ANI.

The drone was detected by Indian Air Defence radars. According to reports, the drone apparently violated Indian airspace near Bikaner at the International Border in Rajasthan and was shot down.

2. IAF Doesn’t Calculate Casualties: Air Chief Marshal on Balakot

For the first time after the aerial strikes by the Indian Air Force (IAF) in Pakistan’s Balakot, Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa addressed the media in Coimbatore.

On Monday, 4 March, Dhanoa said that the IAF had conducted “successful raids”, however he refused to comment on the number of casualties inflicted, calling it “the government’s prerogative.”

4. PM Modi Cracks ‘Joke’ on Dyslexia, Twitter Calls it ‘Shameful’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi faced severe backlash on Twitter over the weekend for his ‘joke’ on people with dyslexia – with people calling it insensitive, shameful and distressing, among others.

A student at the Smart India Hackathon 2019, while interacting with PM Modi via video conference, was talking about her idea of helping students with dyslexia.

The prime minister soon interrupted her and asked, “Will this work for a 40-50-year-old child too?”

5. Former BJD Leader Baijayant Panda Joins BJP

Former Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Baijayant 'Jay' Panda joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, 4 March, in the presence of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

According to PTI, Panda, who had quit the BJD in May 2017 after he had a falling out with party chief Naveen Patnaik, had recently said that he is willing to join hands with anybody "committed to tackling the severe problems that Odisha now faces."

“The 'mahagathbandhan' is a baseless, senseless, and visionless alliance,” said Vishlesh Godhani, an engineering student from Nagpur.

Many others echoed Godhani’s thoughts as The Quint’s chaupal reached Nagpur to speak to the citizens ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

7. Kumbh Mela 2019: More Than 1 Cr Devotees Take Holy Dip

Sangam – the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati – will witness the last dip of the Kumbh Mela on Mahashivratri on Monday, 4 March. More than one crore devotees took a holy dip in the Sangam till Monday evening, the officials said.

PM Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind took to Twitter to send Mahashivratri greetings. Film and TV personalities also wished their followers on the auspacious day.
