2. Chahal-Dhoni-Jadhav Lead India to 2-1 ODI Series Win in Australia
India concluded what will be remembered as one of their finest tours of Australia with another first – Yuzvendra Chahal and MS Dhoni’s heroics helped the team to their maiden bilateral ODI series win Down Under, sealed with a seven-wicket win in the deciding third ODI at Melbourne on Friday, 18 January.

4. Movie Review: Emraan Hashmi Asks ‘Why Cheat India?’
Newton ka 4th law pata hai? I now know courtesy Why Cheat India where Rocky bhaiyya aka Rakesh, tells a wide-eyed student, “gareeb se koi pyaar nahi kerta”. He then goes on to explain how he already is “akalmand” and now must become “nakalmand” for a comfortable future.
Sattu, effortlessly played by Singhadeep Chatterjee, is one of the many bright kids Rocky enrols in his dubious scheme — where degrees and top ranks are up for sale. Sattu’s job is to appear for exams on behalf of other kids and guarantee them a good marksheet.

5. SC Orders Security for Women Who Entered Sabarimala
The Supreme Court, on Friday, 18 December asked the Kerala government to provide security to Kanakadurga and Bindu Ammini, the two women who entered the Sabarimala shrine on 2 January. The two had sought round-the-clock police protection citing fear of reprisal.
The court, however, refused to entertain their plea that no purification rites should be conducted after women enter the shrine.
Meanwhile, Kerala government informed the apex court that 51 women in the age group of 10-50 years had entered the Ayyappa shrine at Sabarimala since the SC verdict.

6. TMC Event: Who’s In, Who’s Out of the ‘Not So United Oppn’ Rally
TMC leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is all set to flex muscles in Kolkata on Saturday, 19 December with a Mega Opposition rally that will be attended by the who's who of the Opposition.
Political bigwigs like Sharad Pawar, Akhilesh Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, Arvind Kejriwal, MK Stalin, HD Devegowda, HD Kumaraswamy and Chandrababu Naidu have confirmed their presence. Congress's Rahul Gandhi, who will be represented by Mallikarjun Kharge at the event wrote a letter to Mamata Banerjee today extending support. BSP's Mayawati too, will skip the event and will be represented by party leader Satish Chandra Mishra.

7. 5 Dead, 5 Trapped as Avalanche Hits Khardung La in Ladakh
At least five people died while five others are trapped after an avalanche hit Khardunga La in Ladakh on Friday, 18 January.
According to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), the vehicle they were travelling in was hit by an avalanche at 7 am. Rescue operations are currently underway with the police, army and the SDRF trying to rescue the trapped people.
However, it has not yet been established whether the persons in the truck were civilians or security force personnel.
