2. Imran Khan Backs Sidhu, Says Attack Over Hug a ‘Disservice to Peace’

The controversy over the hug between Navjot Singh Sidhu and Pakistan Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa is refusing to die. First, a sedition case was filed against the Punjab Cabinet minister who went to Islamabad last weekend in what he called a "goodwill ambassador" during Imran Khan's swearing in.

While the Pakistan Prime Minister backed Sidhu and said those attacking him in India are doing a "great disservice to peace", Sidhu said his hug with Bajwa came from an emotional place, after the latter had spoken of peace between the two countries.

3. ‘Must Have a Grievance Officer in India’: IT Min to WhatsApp CEO

WhatsApp needs to set up a local entity and find tech solutions to trace the origin of fake messages, said Union IT Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad on 21 August, after his meeting with WhatsApp CEO Chris Daniels.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Prasad said he had made three suggestions to tackle the problems posed by WhatsApp:

  1. WhatsApp must have a grievance officer in India.
  2. WhatsApp must be in proper compliance with Indian laws. We won't appreciate a scenario where any problem will have to be answered in America.
  3. WhatsApp has become an important component of India's digital storage and must have a proper corporate entity located in India.
