1. ‘Bol - Love Your Bhasha’: Quint Hindi Celebrates Indian Languages

The Quint Hindi, in collaboration with Google India, organised an event on Tuesday, 18 September as part of the initiative titled ‘Bol – Love Your Bhasha’, which is aimed at helping Indian languages gain the same prominence and popularity on the internet as English.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, one of the speakers at the event, stressed on the importance of regional languages, and said that English speakers and English news consumers are a microscopic minority in India.

The day-long event brought together the brightest minds in business, media and publishing to talk about the explosion of Indian languages online.

2. Cong Denies Reports of Ajay Maken Resigning As Party’s Delhi Chief

Dismissing reports of Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken resigning from his post, the party, on 18 September, said he has simply gone for a check-up for some health issues and will be back soon.

Congress also clarified that he had recently met party president Rahul Gandhi and party in-charge of Delhi affairs, PC Chacko.

Ajay Maken has some health problem and has gone for medical checkup. He’ll be back next week and probably he’s a little worried that he can’t devote full time or travel the way he wants. On his return, we’ll discuss working arrangements but the fact is he has not resigned.

3. ‘The Marvelous Mrs Maisel’ Rules Emmy Awards

Amazon Prime’s hit The Marvelous Mrs Maisel won five awards, including Best Series, at the 2018 Primetime Emmys on Sunday, effectively dominating the comedy category. It also achieved the landmark of becoming the first show produced by a streaming platform to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Star Rachel Brosnahan took home the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy series trophy for the acclaimed show.

The ceremony also marked first wins for series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, receiving both Best Writing and Best Directing for a Comedy Series. Amy, who is a fan-favourite for creating shows like Gilmore Girls and Bunheads, had surprisingly never won an Emmy before, and had only been nominated once earlier.

4. India and Pakistan to Come Face-to-Face at Asia Cup Tomorrow

India and Pakistan will come face-to-face on the cricket field after a period of over one year, when they take on each other in the group stage match of Asia Cup 2018 in Dubai on Wednesday, 19 September.

The last time the sides met were at the final of the Champions Trophy in England in 2017 when Pakistan got the better of India to win their first global ODI trophy since the 1992 Cricket World Cup.

An India-Pakistan encounter, of late, has become so less frequent that most of the cricket fans from India are no longer aware of players from the other side of the border.
