Two youths were beaten with a belt in Moradabad’s Bhagatpur for allegedly being involved in a fight with another local from the neighbouring village of Rampur.
Video footage shows both the boys being hit with a belt, one at a time, by one of the villagers. The boys were whipped in front of the whole village with no one protesting against the action.
According to a news report on News18, it all started a few days ago when there was a wedding ceremony at Rampur where the boys got into a fight during the wedding procession from Manpur area in Bhagatpur.
The villagers had intervened then in a bid to pacify both the parties. A few days later, when a villager from Rampur went to Manpur in order to buy medicines, he was roughed up by the irate residents.
Those involved were summoned by the Panchayat and the issue was resolved between both the parties. But shortly after that, a person who is allegedly the father of the youth who was beaten at Rampur, hit out at the boys from Manpur with a belt.
A case has been filed and the police have arrested three of the accused so far.
