"Read romance novels," says Nikita Singh, as she lists five dating tips.

In a conversation with The Quint, bestselling romance author Nikita Singh pondered over love and life and the finer nuances of dating in a contemporary setup. She also talked about the importance of being selfless in relationships and striving towards making the relationship a symbiotic one.

Talking about those stuck in relationships where they’re being harassed by their partners, Nikita said:

You love this person so you want to protect them. But at the same time, it’s such a toxic relationship and you don’t deserve it. No one deserves it! It’s not that one time this person hit you. It was just how he was raised and how he thinks, and you can’t change that. So, I personally would not be able to deal with it.

All of 26, Nikita has already published 11 books, her latest being ‘Letters to My Ex.’ In keeping with the title, this novel consists of letters that a girl writes to her former partner for a year after their break-up in an attempt to come to terms with the fact that the relationship is over. Her other works include ‘Promise,’ ‘Love@Facebook’ and ‘If It's Not Forever.

Nikita is a dynamic millenial who started writing at 19 and has not looked back since. Watch her get candid with The Quint and talk about writing, romance, and #MeToo.

(The Quint, in association with BitGiving, has launched a crowdfunding campaign for an 8-month-old who was raped in Delhi on 28 January 2018. The baby girl, who we will refer to as 'Chhutki', was allegedly raped by her 28-year-old cousin when her parents were away. She has been discharged from AIIMS hospital after undergoing three surgeries, but needs more medical treatment in order to heal completely. Her parents hail from a low-income group and have stopped going to work so that they can take care of the baby. You can help cover Chhutki's medical expenses and secure her future. Every little bit counts. Click here to donate.)
