France’s Women’s Rights Minister (!) Laurence Rossignol recently compared women who choose to wear the hijab with ‘negroes’ who accepted slavery. The statement is almost breathtakingly beautiful in its ignorance, butchering, as it does, not just inclusive modern-day feminism and secularism, but also an entire race’s history of trauma, oppression and rebellion.
So we asked young, hijab-wearing Muslim women what THEY had to say to the French Minister. Take it away, ladies!
