Mariyappan Thangavelu clinched India’s first gold medal at the Rio Paralympics in the high jump event. He recorded a jump of 1.89m.
Thangavelu, who won the gold at the IPC Grand Prix earlier this year, has fought through several battles in life to become a Paralympic champion.
