Imran Khan, the chairman of Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, demanded that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should resign following his link to the Panama Papers revelations.

Khan addressed his supporters on Sunday evening during a rally against the Prime Minister in Lahore, urging his supporters to be ready to march at Raiwind near Lahore, where Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family reside. However, he added that a final decision in this regard will be taken after a meeting of opposition parties scheduled for Monday.

Nawaz Sharif has been under tremendous pressure from opposition parties to step down since his family members were named in the mass leak of offshore account data from the Panama firm Mossack Fonseca.

The Prime Minister announced that he would ask the country’s Chief Justice to set up an independent judicial commission to probe charges based on the Panama papers regarding any illegal overseas investments.

But cricket-star-turned-politician Khan has demanded an unbiased probe into the wealth Nawad Sharif’s family had amassed.
