When Gully Boy hit the screens, a large part of the audiences were mesmerised by the rap culture they were exposed to. Naezy, Divine, MC Altaf rose to fame like never before.

Another thing that happened post release is that people have started to understand how rap can be used to pin down current topics, events from their life and express emotion.

Much like our newest viral sensation - Rap Nani aka Lata Khanchandani.

Ranveer Singh discovered a video of her rapping about the world today and posted it on his Instagram. The video went viral and voila - the world was introduced to Rap Nani. Now, she has an Instagram account and a YouTube channel which she plans to populate with more rap in the days to come.

This 76-year-old is an example for us millennials and our parents to live life with no regrets. Lata is a professional hair stylist who has won competitions abroad and in India.

But if you think this is what she’s done her whole life, wait up. She started working at the age of 46 when most people think their dreams are over and start to lose the drive for their jobs. She continues to do it till date.

“I watched Gully Boy on 14 February and while watching I kept telling myself that I can write a rap too. I could barely get any sleep that night. I started writing a song and when I finished my first rap, I recorded it and sent it to my daughter. She played it to her friends and they loved it. She asked me to make a video. I wrote another one and recorded the video.”

Lata has two daughters who help her with her social media accounts and lend their ears to her musings to generate the next viral rap. They chime in with their inputs and say that they will try to keep her fandom from one video going.
