Today marks four years since the Nirbhaya gangrape case in New Delhi, which, for the moment, managed to put women’s safety on the top of social, political and judicial discourse. This year also marked three years since the Shakti Mills gangrape of a 22-year-old photojournalist in Mumbai.

At the end of 2016, how are we doing as a country when it comes to treating women as humans? (Gasp!)

Particularly, is Mumbai still the “city of dreams” it used to be, even five years ago? Have we learnt from Nirbhaya, or have we just gone spiralling further down?
