Mirzapur, the web series is set in the heartland of India and serves up a gritty version of the city. Think drugs, violence, gore and power dynamics in small town India. Shot extensively in Purvanchal, it is a guns and goons story. The gangster saga is all about presenting no-holds-barred, high-octane action set in a lawless land to the global audience.

This is not just a man’s world. The series boasts a stellar women force - Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Sheeba Chaddha and more.

Talking to The Quint actor Rasika Dugal who plays a bold character, Kaleen Bhaiyya’s wife tells us why this mafia series is different from the rest, “The characters of Mirzapur are so mysterious that you have no idea where, which way they are going to tip at any point or at any given time. So when I first read the script of Mirzapur, by the third episode, I was like, I think this character is going to do this in the fourth episode and I was totally wrong.”

Divyendu who plays the role of Munna, a ruthless yet foolish son of the mafia don Kaleen Bhai, says he doesn’t want his family to watch it together, “I have told my entire family not to sit and watch it together. Everyone needs to watch it separately. Don’t think of it as family time and say ‘come let us all watch it together’. It needs to be watched separately.”
