In the second episode of Bytes & Bolts, The Quint takes a look at the past week’s top stories in the world of technology and automobiles.

This week we take a look at Mark Zuckerberg’s testimony to the US Senate and Congress, a gruelling 48-hour question and answer session, which taught some of the senators a thing or two about technology, but didn’t quite rattle the nearly robotic Facebook CEO.

Zuckerberg fielded questions around user privacy and the need for regulation with straightforward almost scripted answers. He did become slightly repetitive talking about AI and how Facebook works, but then blame that on the repetitive questioning by the senators.

Social media, though, wasn’t quite kind to Zuckerberg’s hearing, with some calling him a robot and others – a lizard!

While the focus was on Facebook, a new social media network crept into India courtesy the former Orkut founder. Say hello to Hello!

Hackers were also a menace, getting into Vevo’s channel on Youtube and managing to remove some of the world’s favourite music videos from the site, like Despacito. However, it’s back with its 5 billion views intact.

ISRO and SpaceX had a couple of launches in the week. ISRO first launched the GSAT-6A communications satellite, which then got lost in space. It has been tracked down since, and ISRO is attempting to reestablish contact with it. It also launched another communications satellite after that successfully.

SpaceX, meanwhile, with its reusable Falcon 9 rocket first launched 10 Iridium satellites and then came back to pick up cargo for the International Space Station. Quite like a mofussil bus – and a rather expensive one at that.

On the auto front, the Kawasaki Ninja 400 launched and so did the Honda CBR250R. Ford had a media preview of its upcoming compact utility vehicle, the Ford Freestyle. We have more in store for you in this episode of Bytes & Bolts.
