India’s former opening batsman Aakash Chopra said that R Ashwin should have bowled in the first six overs in the World T20 semi-final against West Indies at Mumbai on Thursday.

India were knocked out of the tournament after losing by seven wickets. On a chat with The Quint, Aakash Chopra expressed that the two no-balls bowled to Lendl Simmons by Ravichandran Ashwin and Hardik Pandya cost India the game.

Ashwin’s no-ball gave Man-of-the-Match Simmons ‘life’ at 18 when Jasprit Bumrah had taken the catch while Pandya overstepped when the right-hander was on 50. Simmons went on to score an unbeaten 82 to win it for the Caribbeans.
