AAP up in Arms Against BJP MLA OP Sharma
Attacking BJP’s OP Sharma for his remarks against its MLA Alka Lamba, AAP demanded his expulsion from Delhi Assembly.
Stepping up its attack on BJP legislator OP Sharma for his “derogatory” remarks against its MLA Alka Lamba, AAP today demanded his expulsion from the Delhi Assembly and said that its women lawmakers will abstain from attending the House proceedings until his ouster.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also demanded stringent action from the BJP against Sharma for the “unparliamentary language” used against Lamba.
Delhi Assembly Speaker Ramniwas Goel yesterday suspended Sharma till Thursday for using derogatory language against the Chandni Chowk MLA during a discussion on night shelters.
Scores of Aam Aadmi Party workers today held a protest outside Sharma’s house in Karkardooma area over his alleged derogatory remarks against AAP MLA Alka Lamba, demanding permanent suspension of the lawmaker from the Delhi Assembly.
Protesters, most of them women, raised slogans against the BJP MLA, saying they would not “tolerate the insult of women.”
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal yesterday expressed his shock over the comments and hoped BJP would take action against him.
Due to AAP MLAs’ protest, House proceedings were disrupted and the Speaker had to adjourn the Assembly twice. AAP’s women legislators demanded Sharma’s expulsion from the House.
