The Bengaluru police recently seized 750gm of methaqualone from a person alleged to be a part of an inter-state drug racket. The arrest has exposed the spread of a ‘rare’ recreational drug in the city. The drug was being sold for a staggering Rs 5,000 per gram.
Police officials in Bengaluru say that while they have seized consignments of various drugs including cocaine, LSD and heroin in the past, this was first time they had came across methaqualone.
In 2014, the Hollywood film The Wolf of Wall Street, based on real-life swindler and stockbroker Jordan Belfort, showed Leonardo DiCaprio taking Methaqualone.
