Reliance Jio’s Money app may not be as big as Paytm or Freecharge in India, but with the Pay from JioChat feature now introduced, things might be about to change.

Jio is now letting all users pay money via the JioChat app with one click. The feature is available to Jio as well as non-Jio users on Android and iOS in the country. This person-to-person (P2P) payment option works well, as Jio Money has been integrated into Jio Chat.

This tweet explains how the payment feature works.

Users will have to create their account in JioMoney and link it with JioChat. You'll have to use the same mobile number to register on both the apps.

JioMoney isn’t the only one that lets you make payments from a chat app. With digital payments getting a big boost in this year’s Union Budget, it hardly comes as a surprise that more telcos are keen on switching to the chat and pay option.

Freecharge and HDFC already let you to pay via WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger respectively, and you also have ICICI Bank tying up with Walnut for similar P2P payment option for its consumers.

With over 80 million users on its network as of 31 December 2016, Jio is well on its way to reaching the 100 million mark very soon.
