Xiaomi to Bring the Mi 8 to India Soon; Might Cost Under 30K

After announcing its sub-brand, POCO, Xiaomi might bring its flagship Mi 8 to India in the coming weeks.

As Xiaomi is set to launch its sub-brand POCO in India, reports suggest that the Chinese manufacturer is also looking to bring its Mi 8 flagship in India soon. According to a report by 91Mobiles, the Mi 8 will be priced somewhere under Rs 30,000.

Speaking to dealers in Rajasthan, UP and Delhi, 91Mobiles said that the company might be planning to launch its flagship product in the coming weeks.

What variants it will be bringing to our shores is not known yet.

Launched in China in May, the Mi 8 run on top of the line Snapdragon 845 processor. The Mi 8 comes with a curved glass back panel and an aluminium frame to make it look more premium. It sports a 6.21-inch full HD+ Super AMOLED display that pumps out a resolution of 1080 x 2248 pixels.

Running on a Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor coupled with 6GB of RAM, the Mi 8 comes with storage options of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. It does not have an option of expanding the memory.

The device also gets Infrared face unlock, which as per the company, can unlock the smartphone even in the dark. The phone boots Android Oreo-based MIUI 10 out of the box.

The phone offers two 12MP primary cameras at the rear, and a 20MP selfie snapper. The handset also gets Studio Lighting, which offers AI-enhanced portrait photography. It packs a 3,400mAh battery with Quick Charge 4+ fast charging support.

For the uninitiated, the Xiaomi Mi 8 was launched in China in May this year. The phone arrived as the brand’s first smartphone to sport a display notch. The handset offers a premium metal and glass body with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
