Twitter seems to be on course correction drive this month, especially after Jack Dorsey, co-founder of the micro-blogging site talked about changes needed to be made.

And now, reports suggest that Twitter on iOS is getting a small design change, ensuring that the number of followers for a user gets mild visibility, compared to having them in large font.

This change was confirmed by a Twitter spokesperson to The Verge, who also added that other features like location, birth date, joining date also get smaller font size now.

The type and spacing sizes have been changed to prioritize some pieces of information on user profiles over others, the spokesperson said. The change was widely expected, with Dorsey trying to emphasize to people that their follower count “doesn’t make a lot of difference”.

Dorsey did admit that during its early days, Twitter’s design policy included having big font sizes.

He was speaking at a fireside chat in Delhi this month, where he also talked of Twitter being a platform where “meaningful conversations take place”.

He also said that Twitter increased its character limit from 160 characters to 240 so that more messages could be shared. We also got a concrete statement from the company about its plan to bring the ‘edit’ button.

The reason Twitter does not have an ‘edit’ button is because people may change their opinions by editing the original tweet and then people who don’t agree with the original view, may have already retweeted the tweet, which is not an accurate representation of what they believe.

Expect more changes on Twitter, not only for iOS users, but Android as well, especially with the platform looking to up the ante in less visible markets like India.

The company is reportedly looking to recruit a management body in India since Twitter hasn't been able to generate substantial advertising sales growth in a market that’s thriving with smartphone and cheap internet data plans.
