Gone are the days when you have to rely on Bluetooth for sending files between two mobile users. Apps like Share It have made it easier for you to share files that are big in size. But the problem is, one has to download apps like these separately, which might not be preferred by everyone.
So in order to make things easier, mobile web browser brand Opera has designed its app to support the file transfer feature from within the app.
This platform is only available on Android, and the company says you can transfer files without having to be on Wi-Fi network or using mobile internet. This way, you’re not eating into your daily quota of data usage, which also drains your phone’s battery. Not bad, right?
With the offline file sharing feature users can transfer images, videos and audio files between nearby devices at high speeds, without using their mobile data. Opera claims the native feature in Opera Mini can transfer files at speeds of up to 300MB/s.
To start sending or receiving files, a user needs to open File Sharing in the menu of the Opera Mini app, and choose Send or Receive. Users will see a QR code for the nearby device to scan, and connect them. The sender will be notified once the file has been transferred, and the receiver will be able to access the file in the Received tab shown in the browser app.
The only caveat is, both the users will have to download the Opera Mini app on their mobile, to make use of the feature. This mobile browser app has regularly added a slew of useful features, like the option to create a virtual private network (VPN) was offered, so that you can access websites which are blocked in your region.
