Apple’s gala event in Cupertino witnessed a lot of important announcements, but the American tech giant saved its best for last. Apple has finally launched its video streaming service and it will be called Apple TV Plus.
Apple TV Plus will give its users access to exclusive original shows, movies and documentaries created by content creators under Apple’s umbrella.
The Cupertino giant has collaborated with multiple celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Aniston, Jason Momoa and more who will be a part of the Apple streaming service acting as faces for the company's streaming platform.
Apple has decided to launch the service in 100 countries later this year.
The Apple TV Plus subscription will be available on the Apple TV app and subscribers will get access to downloadable ad-free content, which will be available to be streamed on all Apple devices.
In addition to the above, Apple also debuted its all-new Apple TV app and Apple TV channels which will be coming in May 2019.
The all-new Apple TV app comes with a revamped user interface which makes accessing content easier and more intuitive. Apple has also redesigned the app to offer latest must-watch shows and other recommendations from the third-party video apps.
The Apple TV app is now also available on smart TVs and streaming devices like Amazon Fire Stick.
What’s new is that Apple is allowing it’s subscribers the option to choose specific channels they want to watch with no additional apps, accounts or passwords required.
Apple TV channels include popular services such as HBO, Starz, SHOWTIME and CBS with more to be added over time around the world.
The pricing for the new Apple TV Plus subscription will be announced later this fall. Additionally, the app will also offer a family sharing option for Apple TV users.
