In two separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, 31 May, at least five militants were neutralised by police forces.
In south Kashmir's Shopian district, two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants and their "active associate" were killed after security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Dragad Sugan area.
The two militants were identified as Abid Manzoor Magray alias Sajju Tiger, a resident of Nowpora Payeeen Pulwama, and Bilal Ahmad Bhat from Urmulla Lassipora Pulwama.
The other person who was part of the group was identified as Jasim Rashid Shah, a resident of Malnar, Shopian.
According to police, Magray and Bhat were wanted for their involvement in terror crimes, including attacks on security establishments and civilian atrocities.
Encounter in Pulwama
Meanwhile, in another incident, two militants were killed in an encounter in J&K’s Pulwama district.
Police officials said that arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of action and the identity of the militants are yet to be ascertained.
