Hailing an auto-rickshaw in Jaipur got so much easier.

ChalogeKya, an app developed by Apoorva Sharma, a Jaipur-based entrepreneur, allows users to locate and get auto-rickshaws in the city.

Auto-rickshaw drivers have to pay a nominal sum to register with ChalogeKya which ensures their visibility on the app. In return, the start-up provides autos with a phone and a SIM card.

With this app, the Pink City has joined Delhi, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Pune as cities with app-based auto-rickshaw services.

The app service has been appreciated for its lean model and strategic intervention in the auto-rickshaw market.

According to Chintan Bakshi, COO of Startup Oasis which is behind ChalogeKya, auto-rickshaws in Jaipur, as in many other Indian cities, are large and unorganised. This requires some intervention, but not excessive interference as it may drive auto-rickshaw drivers away and not deliver value to customers.

ChalogeKya is planning collaborations with Airtel and Idea for providing GPS and other location services for auto-rickshaws. It also plans to expand its services across Rajasthan.
