Mahindra was one of the first large automakers in India to put an electric car on the road, with the e20 in 2012. And now, it is set to introduce a whole range of electric vehicles, some in concept form, which it showed at the Auto Expo 2018 in New Delhi.

It is no longer being branded a Ssangyong vehicle (Mahindra owns the Korean brand Ssangyong), but will be called a Mahindra vehicle.

The name hasn't been officially released yet, but word on the street is that it may be called the Mahindra XUV700.

It is a butch 7-seat SUV, that will be priced at about Rs 24 lakh to Rs 28 lakh when launched. It comes with a reworked 2.2 litre diesel engine that puts out 187 bhp of power and 420 Nm of torque, with a 7-speed automatic or 6-speed manual gearbox and all-wheel drive.

What caught everyone's eye at the Mahindra pavilion at the Auto Expo though was the Stinger concept – a convertible SUV based on the TUV300. No, it's not just a TUV300 without a roof, but a highly stylised vehicle with full LCD instrumentation. However, it is unlikely to make it to production in this form, or anywhere close to it. It will form the basis for a future SUV from Mahindra.

Mahindra also showcased its e-mobility concept vehicles in the form of the Atom and the UDO.

The Atom is a futuristic electric cab, which could one day replace autorickshaws.

It has a large glass area and low floor, with easily accessible doors, making it ideal for the urban commute.

Or, if you don't want to take a cab in the future, you could get yourself one of these tiny personal mobility vehicles – the UDO concept, which is a three-wheeled vehicle from Mahindra electric with a single seat. It is air-conditioned, has a closed cabin and occupies just about as much road space as a large bike.

While these two are quite futuristic, Mahindra also showcased a facelifted version of the e20 electric hatchback – with a new dashboard and new front, and other minor exterior changes.

And it also showed the Mahindra e-KUV100, which runs on the same motor that the Mahindra e-Verito uses. It has a 30kW motor and puts out 91 Nm of torque with a 200AH battery, good for a range of about 110 km on a single charge.

Besides these vehicles, Mahindra also showed its new electric bus, besides its Treo electric three-wheeler.
