There are always two sides to every tech event. On one side you get to see all the conventional yet innovative gizmos that you’d generally use in your daily life like TVs, smartphones and voice assistants.
Then there is the other side, the crazy side! The side of the event that many perceive as absolutely outlandish and where you’d see technology like a walking car, a talking toilet and even a manned drone!
This year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas isn’t devoid of such gadgets and here’s a look at some of the craziest, yet cool gizmos we spotted at CES 2019.
Hey Alexa! Flush...
A toilet to many is ‘sacred’ territory and a place where you’d want some privacy. Turns out, bathware company Kohler doesn’t really buy that idea of “privacy in the bathroom”. The company’s latest innovation showcased at CES 2019 is an Alexa-enabled commode called Numi 2.0. Yes, a toilet with a voice assistant!
The Numi 2.0 Intelligent Toilet costs $7,000 and comes bundled with Amazon Alexa functionality. It comes retrofitted with Bluetooth speakers, ambient lighting and a hands-free open/close lid.
If your’re wondering what this smart commode does; It’s primary features include heated seats, a warm air dryer and adjustable water temperature. The Numi 2.0 also comes with a remote control if you’re not in the mood to talk to your toilet in the middle of the night.
A Smart Workout Kettle
For all those into fitness! It’s about time you stopped slacking on your reps and exercises. And to make sure your efficiently finishing your reps during you workouts with the kettle, a company called JAXJOX has launched the KettlebellConnect.
The smart fitness equipment has been priced at $349 and comes with a built-in motion sensor which helps track your movement and measure the intensity of your workout.
After the user pairs the kettle with its companion app, the user is able to see how much effort he/she has put into the workout and also if they have been thorough with it or not. This mean you cannot get away with a half-ass effort and claim a good day’s workout.
Deep Sleep ‘Dreeming’
Trouble sleeping? Sleeping pills not working? Maybe it’s time you tried some tech to solve your sleep problems.
Dreem is a head band that has been showcased at CES 2019 which helps you monitor and analyse your sleep pattern. Dreem is a fabric-covered headband that combines multiple sensors which detect various biometrics like your heart rate and also how you breathe. The data collected helps it analyse your sleep patterns and then subsequently suggest changes in your sleep if need be.
The band also has a technology called bone conduction to communicate audio cues to you privately without bothering the persons next to you.
A Tesla for Gamers
If you’ve seen the movie ‘Ready Player One’, it’ll be easier for you to understand the next tech I am about to mention. Meet the Teslasuit. This innovative piece of technology is the perfect apparel for gamers.
The Teslasuit is a full body haptic suit that enables its users to touch and feel virtual reality. It also has full body motion capture, climate control and biometry systems.
The suit is compatible with virtual gaming and offers multiple options to game developers, arcade owner or enterprise representatives to use the tech for other purposes.
Drone De Dynamic
The Electrafly is something straight out of a Star Wars movie.
Basically, the Electrafly is a hybrid electric personal flying machine that has the capability to take off and then land vertically. This is possible thanks to the four horizontal propellers above the passenger’s head.
The drone also comes with a jet turbine engine that is capable of producing up to 27kg of downward force when hovering. Many are touting the Electrafly to be the perfect mode of transportation for soldiers of the US army. Who knows, maybe in a couple of years.
