India on Wednesday, 5 August, reported 52,509 new cases of COVID-19, taking the tally in the country to 19,08,255. The death toll increased by 857 to 39,795.
According to the Union Health Ministry data, there are currently 5,86,244 active cases across the country, while 12,82,215 patients have been discharged.

2,331 New COVID-19 Cases in Pune: District Health Department
2,331 COVID-19 cases and 46 deaths reported in Pune on Wednesday, according to ANI. Total number of cases in the district is now at 97,309, including 68,775 recovered, 26,274 active cases & 2,231 deaths, said the District Health Department.

Delhi CM Convenes Meeting, Gives Hospital Wise Recommendations for Procedures and Protocols
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday convened a meeting with the committees which were constituted in July to inspect the 10 hospitals (government and private) in the city with the highest mortality rate, and give hospital-wise recommendations on following standard operating procedures and protocols.
According to a Delhi Government press release, each of the four committees submitted their reports and presented recommendations to CM Arvind Kejriwal, to induce measures for the betterment of COVID patient care services and reducing mortality of COVID patients in the hospitals.
2,816 COVID-19 Cases Reported in West Bengal
