Honda finally brought back its Civic to the market. The company came to this year’s Auto Expo with concepts and upcoming cars. The Sports EV that grabbed everyone’s attention at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2017 along with the futuristic NEU-V concept is set to garner a lot of attention from the masses.

The company also unveiled the next generation of three of its cars – the Amaze and CR-V.

The company showcased the tenth generation of Civic, which had been discontinued in 2013.

Civic, which came out first in 2006 instantly became the favourite among the buyers. Its styling, drivability and the features it had to offer at the time, made Civic an instant hit in the segment. However, with the increasing competition and Civic’s inability to cope with the practicality that the Indian market demands, it was finally discontinued in 2013. Its relaunch has been in talks ever since.

People still wonder why Honda did not launch the car’s ninth generation in India.

The tenth-gen Civic is based on Honda’s global compact platform that is also used in the 2018 Accord and the fifth-gen CR-V, which was also showcased at the Auto Expo. The tenth-gen Civic has done away with the sedan styling and has gone more towards fastback with a steeply raked roofline, giving the normal Civic a Type-R feel.

Civic is expected to be powered by a 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and Honda’s first-ever turbocharged VTEC 1.5 litre petrol motor.
