Porsche has launched a souped-up version of its 911 GT3, called the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and it is priced at Rs 2.75 crore. That’s about Rs 44 lakh above the standard version. But for that additional money, it is offering a lot more performance.

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a track-ready sports car, one that can keep up with the supercars in the business, like a Nissan GT-R or a Mercedes AMG GTR. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS comes with a 4-litre, 6-cylinder naturally aspirated engine.

The GT3 RS puts out 520 bhp of power (20 bhp more than the earlier version) with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The car can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 3.2 seconds, and hit a top speed of 312 kmph.

So what do you get for the additional money?

You get track-ready hardware in the form of improved aerodynamics with the large carbon-fibre spoiler, upgraded brakes, new 20-inch light-weight alloys with fatter 265/35 sports tyres in front and chunky 325/30 low-profile tyres with 21-inch wheels at the rear.

The price includes the Clubsport package consisting of a rollover bar, manual fire extinguisher, and a six-point safety harness. It also features carbon-fibre panels and magnesium wheels, which brings down the car’s weight to just 1,430 kg.

It features four-wheel steering, which results in sharper handling (as the rear wheels also turn slightly to help stability in cornering).

(The Quint, in association with BitGiving, has launched a crowdfunding campaign for an 8-month-old who was raped in Delhi on 28 January 2018. The baby girl, who we will refer to as 'Chhutki', was allegedly raped by her 28-year-old cousin when her parents were away. She has been discharged from AIIMS hospital after undergoing three surgeries, but needs more medical treatment in order to heal completely. Her parents hail from a low-income group and have stopped going to work so that they can take care of the baby. You can help cover Chhutki's medical expenses and secure her future. Every little bit counts. Click here to donate.)
