Maruti Suzuki has officially rolled out the 2019 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, India’s most popular entry-level car by sales numbers. The upgraded Alto now gets a BS-VI (Bharat Stage 6) emissions compliant engine, much ahead of the April 2020 deadline.
Along with the cleaner engine, the car also gets new standard safety features to comply with the new safety norms. All variants come with ABS, single driver airbag, rear parking sensors, speed alert system and also a seat belt reminder. This is in compliance with the new Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) 145.

In terms of performance, the new Alto 800 will continue to come with a 796cc three-cylinder petrol engine that is capable of producing 47 bhp of power and 69 Nm of peak torque. It will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
However, it has been given software and minor hardware updates to meet BS-VI emissions standards, resulting in about 25 percent lower nitrous oxides (NOx) emissions. The exhaust system has also been updated to comply with the new norms.
The company also says that the Alto is 85 percent recyclable and 95 percent recoverable, when the car reaches end of life.
Cosmetically, the car gets minor updates to the front bumper, headlamps, grille and tail-lamps. On the interiors the car is largely the same. The car is available in six colours: red, white, silver, grey, green and blue.
