The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is a lifestyle pickup truck that caught the fancy of many Indian buyers, virtually creating the segment for pickups in India. After its launch in 2016, at a value-for-money price of Rs 12.5 lakh, the company has now updated the 2018 model of the pickup with two new variants.

The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross High variant and the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross Standard variant is priced at Rs 15.81 lakh and Rs 14.31 lakh respectively ex-showroom, Delhi.

New Features of Isuzu D-Max V-Cross

The standard variant now gets a 2-DIN infotainment system as standard fitment (it was an aftermarket option earlier), a rear-view camera and side steps. All these are welcome additions as it was difficult to reverse the V-Cross owing to its size. Getting in was also an issue for older people because of its height.

The High variant includes the features in the Standard variant and adds electronic stability control (ESC), traction control system (TCS), LED daytime running lamps, cruise control, LED tail-lamps, a 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat, black leather upholstery and a chrome rear bumper. It is also available in a new ruby red colour, in addition to the five other colours of white, black, brown, grey and silver.

It continues to be powered by a 2.5 litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that puts out 134 bhp of power and 320 Nm of torque with a five-speed manual transmission and a shift-on-the-fly, four-wheel drive system. Two airbags and ABS are standard safety features. It can seat five adults and carry a significant amount of luggage in its large load bay.

The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is a lifestyle pickup targeted at adventure lovers, enthusiasts, planters and farmers. However, it also finds many buyers in the city (despite its size), who love it for its butch looks. It competes with the likes of the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway and Tata Xenon, both of which have seen limited success, while the V-Cross has managed to sell over 1,000 units a month consistently.
