Barkha Dutt talks to Lalitesh Pati Tripathi, a sitting Congress MLA from Marihan assembly segment in Mirzapur district, to find out how the Congress Vice President would emerge in this do-or-die battle.
The great grandson of former UP Chief Minister Kamalapati Tripathi, Lalitesh was in fact inducted into politics by Rahul Gandhi ahead of the 2012 assembly elections. He emerged successful then – but votes weren’t by his side in 2014 when he lost the Lok Sabha elections against Union Minister Anupriya Patel in Mirzapur.
