Czech player Karolina Pliskova put an end to Serena William’s march to the finals of the seventh US Open on Thursday. This is the second consecutive setback for Serena in two years, which also marks an end to her reign as the World Number 1.

Last year, it was Roberta Vinci who stood in between her and the title, in one of the biggest tennis upsets.

Pliskova, obviously, was ecstatic after the victory.

Meanwhile, German player Angelique Keber has also slammed her way into the final after defeating Caroline Wozniacki in straight sets of 6-4, 6-3. This would be Keber’s first US Open.

Interestingly, both the finalists will be playing their first US Open final on Saturday.
