Roger Federer bids the crowd goodbye after his exit at the US Open.

In an incredible turn of events, World No. 2 Roger Federer crashed out of the 4th round in the US Open against 55th-ranked Millman, an Australian who had never made it past the third round at a Slam until last week.

Twitter reacted in both shock an awe, praising Millman’s hard fought victory and also pin-pointing what could possibly have been one of the worst performances in Federer’s career.

It's only the second time in Federer's past 14 appearances at the US Open that he's lost before the quarterfinals.

The first obvious signs of trouble for Federer came early in the second game of the second set where he struggled in the first 15 minutes, missing 18 of his initial 20 first serves.

Christian Sanchez, reacted stating, “Someone wake me up... I find it hard to believe that tonight at US Open was Roger Federer... I summarize it as: It was the worst game I saw him play since I see His Majesty's tennis. Millman must not be able to believe what he did. Yes gentlemen, the Swiss Express is human!”

Fans also came in support despite the exit, tweeting to the legend, “do everything you want, take all the time you need, we will always by your side no matter what.”
