4 Medals for India on Day 3
India had a fruitful Day 3 at the Asian Games.
At the start of the day, 16-year old Saurabh Chaudhary bagged gold in the 10m Air Pistol Final with a Games Record score, Abhishek Verma won a bronze in the same event.
Sanjeev Rajput also won a silver in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions final on Tuesday.
Later in the day, wrestler Divya Kakran won bronze in the 68 kg freestyle category, which took the medals tally in wrestling to three.
The Indian men’s team won their first-ever sepaktakraw medal.
Indian women’s hockey team continued their domination as they blanked Kazakhstan 21-0.
At the end of the third day at the Asiad, India finished with 10 medals, which include 3 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze.
Women's Hockey: India Hammer Kazakhstan 21-0
After thrashing host Indonesia 8-0 in their opening Pool B encounter, India nearly scored two dozen goals against lowly-ranked Kazakhstan.
Gurjeet Kaur scored four goals for India while Lalremsiami, Navneet Kaur and Vandana Katariya scored three goals each.
Like Indonesia, Kazakhstan also failed to take a single shot on goal.
With this win India go to the top of Pool B and face South Korea next on Saturday, 25 August.
Gymnastics: Dipa Karmakar in Final
Dipa Karmakar has qualified for the balance beam final with a score of 12.750. However, the gymnast for Tripura failed to qualify for the vault final.
She could not qualify in the vault final as her two compatriots Pranati Nayak and Aruna Budda Reddy finished above her at sixth and seventh respectively.
Pranati Nayak and Aruna Budda Reddy finished with scores of 13.425 and 13.350 respectively.
India has also qualified for the team final as the seventh best team in the competition with a score of 144.300
Wrestling: Divya Kakran Bags Bronze
India’s 10th medal of these Asian Games has come in wrestling with Divya Kakran bagging the bronze in the 68 kg category.
Divya needed just 90 seconds out of the 6 minute bout to close out the win, opening a 10-0 lead over Chen Wenling of Chinese Taipei, enough to be awarded the victory by technical superiority.
