The internet was flooded with birthday wishes for former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan on 7 October, with his former teammates and current Indian players putting up posts for the left-arm pace bowler.
However, it was a certain tweet by Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya that garnered a lot of attention, and didn’t go down well with several cricket fans.
Pandya wrote, “Happy birthday Zak... Hope you smash it out of the park like I did here.”
The all-rounder received a lot of flack for his tweet, with people criticising him for being too arrogant. Some said that he should perform on the field rather than off it.
Zaheer replied to Pandya’s tweet on Tuesday, 8 October, thanking the all-rounder for his wishes. But he also reminded Pandya of what happened on the next delivery he faced.
He wrote, “Hahahaha....thank you for the wishes @hardikpandya7 my batting skills can never be as good as yours but the birthday was as good as the next delivery you faced from me in this match.”
