When you’re the captain of the Indian cricket team, every move you make is watched – and judged – by the vast majority of a 1.3 billion-strong population.

Virat Kohli already knows that all too well, but the Indian skipper has drawn his latest social media wrath for walking out for a toss wearing shorts.

Kohli’s fashion ‘faux pas’ was made on the morning of Thursday, 29 November at the toss ahead of India’s practice match against Cricket Australia XI at Sydney.

The four-dayer – India’s sole warm-up before the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting next week – isn’t being broadcast anywhere, and the pictures from the toss were only made available to the world through BCCI’s Twitter handle.

What the Indian board’s social media team may have reckoned was honest and timely reportage, turned into a ranting ground for many. Fans, predominantly from India, didn’t take long to take ‘offense’.

Others weren’t quite as kind...

Fortunately for Kohli, not everyone was training their guns at his sartorial sense – unlike the previous social media uproar caused by him, the Indian captain did have fans batting for him this time around.

Hopefully, it won’t be a long road to redemption for the Indian captain for this ‘short’coming!
