In Pics: Virat, Anushka Return to Mumbai After India’s Tour of WI
Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and his actor-producer wife Anushka Sharma landed in Mumbai on Sunday, 8 September, after the conclusion of the Men in Blue’s month-long tour of the USA and Caribbean Islands.
The two teams had kicked off the tour in Florida, USA, where India won the first two T20Is and sealed the three-match series. The tour then moved to Guyana where India completed a 3-0 whitewash over the hosts in the shortest format.
Virat and co then defeated the Windies 2-0 in the ODI rubber, with one game being abandoned due to unplayable conditions. India then whitewashed West Indies 2-0 in the two-match Test series as Kohli became the country’s most successful captain in the longest format with 28 Test wins. The record was earlier held by MS Dhoni with 27 wins from 60 matches.
India will next be hosting South Africa for a three-match T20I series followed by three Tests. The tour of India is South Africa's first assignment since a disastrous World Cup campaign, during which they were knocked out in preliminary stage itself. India are the numero uno team in the ICC Test rankings but are placed a rung behind South Africa, at 4th, in the T20 list.
