The International Cricket Council banned Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan from all forms of cricket for two years on Tuesday evening. Shakib has accepted all the three charges of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.

One year of the ban is suspended, so he will not be eligible for involvement in cricket till October 2020.

The Bangladesh skipper violated Article 2.4.4 in which he failed to disclose to the ACU full details of any approaches or invitations he received to engage in corrupt conduct.

These charges are in relation to two approaches to fix the Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe Tri-Series in January 2018, and an IPL 2018 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab.

Shakib failed to disclose to ACU details of any approaches or invitations he received to engage in corrupt conduct.

Since the ban, the cricketing fraternity has been critical of Shakib’s intentions and has pulled him up for inaction. They have took to Twitter to express their shock and disbelief at how a senior cricketer of Shakib’s stature would go about without reporting such an incident.
